"They cut off Henry's head again." Draper, a man dressed like a homeless person from 1999, said as he popped into the room. His hair a mess and his skin was dull. He looked dehydrated to me.

"That's the second time. You're either going to do it right the third time or I'll assign someone else to do it!" Captain Winters gritted his teeth at Draper and his veins popped out on his forearms.

I sat up in my chair and squared my shoulders. Draper was looking me up and down like he always does. I remember what my dad always said to me when we went camping. 'When faced with something bigger than you, make yourself bigger than it.'

Draper was way bigger than me and he did scare me. Naturally I made myself bigger than anything that scared me because it made me feel stronger. Even though Draper was much larger than me it still gave me a small burst of confidence. A low growl bubbled between my lips towards him. He grinned and in moments he was gone again.

Bits of sand fell onto the table. I watched them carefully.

"Sands of time." Winters said. He was relaxed now. Leaning into his chair he crossed his arms and smiled. "Your stance. You would attack if given the chance. You remind me of a dog...They are the best at judging someone's character. You obviously see that Draper is a snake and that upsets you."

I nodded. "He looks at me like I'm meat."

Winters laughed. "Draper is...a mess. He's too busy caring about what's in it for him more than what's going to happen to the others around him."

"Why is there sand everywhere? The sands of time?" I asked. Thinking about Draper made me a little sick. I didn't like him.

"Draper is the great grand son of the last father time known to man. Father Time was killed during a world war. His grandson, Draper, was the only one who could change time. Unfortunately."

That put a smile on my face. I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't like him.

"Kitty," He said leaning onto the table. "Tell me what makes you so interested about our people."

I didn't have to say anything. I displayed it with my own body. I laid my hands flat on the table and let me claws grow from my nail beds. I felt my hair move away to display my pointed jet black cat like ears on top of my head. I bared my teeth showing them grow into sharp points. My vision grew sharp as I watched my eyes turn yellow in the window behind Winters' head.

"Well, well, well." Winters smiled and held  out his hand. "Welcome to the team Kitty. The name suits you."

I shook his hand. "Shut up."
